PA industrial yarn applications

Polyamide is polymerized and granulated in the liquid phase from the monomers caprolactam (PA6) or hexamethylene diamine (HMDA) and adipic acid (PA66). Other monomers are used for the production of a variety of different PA grades. Optionally, the PA pellets undergo a process step for water extraction. The resulting PA pellets contain a few percent water.

POLYMETRIX processes are used to dry and condition all types of polyamides to equilibrium moisture content. In addition, viscosity is adjusted by POLYMETRIX SSP process for PA. Viscosity is adjusted by temperature and residence time, while residual moisture is controlled by process gas humidity. Both are critical parameters for an optimal spinning process.

Drying/conditioning and SSP process can take place in one process step or separately, depending on the process requirements.

The pneumatic conveying from the process to the storage silos and to the spin extruders is fully integrated into the overall process. This ensures that the pellets reach the spin extruder without any loss of quality.
